Protect Your Family with Safe Medication Storage

September 30, 2024

We all know the importance of safe medication storage. In the USA in the year 2023, there are millions of people misusing prescription medication, and thousands of people died from overdose (75% are from opioids). There is data that shows that 60% of teenagers and young adults are abusing prescription medications that are not actually prescribed for them. They take it from someone else either friends or family. To keep the medication safe, it’s better to lock them up in your drawer or in a safe that requires a fingerprint, eye scan, and voice recognition to unlock. Here are some tips to help you keep the medications safe and secure.

Medication Safety Tips

  • Keep all the medication stored in a safe place, away from children and out of sight. This also includes prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
  • After taking the medication, immediately put them away and keep it safe.
  • Do not use expired medication as it can cause serious health conditions or unexpected side effects. It’s always best to check the dates regularly and get rid of medication that is already expired.
  • Dispose of any medications you are no longer using.
  • If you think there is a sign of drug poisoning, call poison control right away.
